 Ohio Star Ball 2010

The Stars of Dance Fever Shine at Ohio Star Ball

It began more than thirty years ago as a one-day dance competition. Today, the Ohio Star Ball is one of the largest DanceSport competitions in the world, with one of the largest ProAm divisions—a six-day event that marks the culmination of the annual DanceSport Series. Throughout the year, ballroom dancers from around the country compete in DanceSport events with the goal of collecting enough points to be invited to the final Ball and, with it, a chance to be crowned the best of the best.

November 16, 2010 marked the beginning of the 10th Annual Ohio Star Ball in its current incarnation as the Grand Finale of the DanceSport Series. This year, the state of Massachusetts was well represented with more than a dozen teachers and students from Newton-based Dance Fever Studio competing in the Ball. And the results confirmed what we’ve long known: Dance Fever has some of the best ballroom dance instructors and students in the world.

Please join us in congratulating the following couples for their outstanding performance:

  • Ron Garber and Ashley Goldman – 2nd place, Junior Amateur/International Latin Dance
  • Ronen Zinshtein and Mariam Izmaylova – 2nd place, Adult Amateur/International Standard Dance
  • Phillip Kudryavtsev and Liza Lakovitsky – Finalists, Junior Amateur/International Latin Dance
  • Jean-Philippe Milot and Laurence Bolduc – Finalists, Adult Amateur/International Latin Dance
  • Allen Rudman and Sandy Rabinovich – Quarterfinalists, Junior Amateur/International Latin Dance
  • Myron Shneider and Dasha Kholdenko – Quarterfinalists, Junior Amateur/International Latin Dance
  • If you haven’t witnessed the spectacle of the Ohio Star Ball for yourself, we encourage you to join us for next year’s Ball. The six-day event is a feast for the senses, with pageantry, drama, fun, great music and, of course, some of the world’s best dancing. The competition features couples of all ages performing some of the world’s best-loved dances including the Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango and Quickstep. The Ohio Star Ball is the best place to see the nation’s best dancers, including future World Games stars. For more photos from this year’s Ohio Star Ball, visit our photo gallery!
