Jean-Philippe Milot began ballroom dancing at the age of 6 when, despite his protests, his parents insisted he take lessons. Today, he credits his mother and father with what has become a rewarding career. Under the training of Manon Grenier and Jean-Marc Genereux, he became the Youth Ten-Dance and Latin Canadian Champion. He has also attended a number of youth world championships, placing in the top 24.
Laurence began her dancing at the age of 2. After 10 years of training in ballet, jazz and tap, she fell in love with ballroom. Under the training of Meryem Pearson, she became the American National Junior Latin and Standard Pro-Am Champion. She also won the title of Canadian 10-dance Pro-Am Champion.
Currently, Jean-Philippe and Laurence train with Vibeke Toft, Jean-Marc Genereux, France Mousseau and Meryem Pearson. Their accomplishments include:
- Canadian Latin Champions 2009
- Two time North American Latin Champions
- 2009 World Games Latin Finalists
- Canadian Championship Latin Finalists
- 2008 Canadian representatives at the Latin World Championship in Melbourne, Australia
- Quebec Championship Showdance Champions
- Ohio Star Ball 2008 First Runner-up Latin Champions
- 7th out of 70 at the Crystal Palace Cup 2009
- 8th out of 70 at the Imperial 2009
- 37th out of 400 at the Blackpool Dance Festival (May 2009)
- La Classique du Quebec 2008 and Manhattan Dancesport Championship 2008 Latin Finalists
- Semi-Finalists at the Embassy Ball (An IDSF part of the Grand Slam featuring the best couples from around the world)
Jean-Philippe and Laurence have also made numerous appearances on national television, such as the Quebec version of Dancing with the Stars. They performed for an audience of 40,000 people in the opening ceremony of the Outgames at the Olympic Stadium of Montreal, broadcast live on national television.
As coaches, Jean-Philippe and Laurence love to teach all levels but especially enjoy working with students who are just starting out. They strive to help each student to achieve his or her goals and be proud of their dancing. They feel that success is when students leave the lesson happier, stronger, and more confident dancers than when they came in.
