Summer 2010 Ballroom Programs at Dance Fever Studio
The general pace of life slows in the summer. It's our time to relax, recharge, spend time outdoors, and take vacations. Many dancers choose to take the summer off, seeing it as a time to take a break from a "school year" activity. While we understand that schedules and activities change in the summer months, however, we can't underscore enough how much we encourage you to keep dancing during July and August.
A week - or even two or three - away from dance can be refreshing. Your body, as well as your mind, can use a break now and then. We tend to find, though, that any more time than that, and the body tends to forget. You lose some of that muscle memory you worked so hard to acquire, and your focus tends to wane. In a sense, you regress a bit - so when you come back to dance after a month or two, simple things like your sense of balance have somehow dissolved. All this can give way to frustration - which in itself makes it hard to move forward and keep improving as a dancer.
We at Dance Fever Studio offer a number of options to dance this summer. These include special summer group classes, for both kids and adults; they're taught by all the same wonderful instructors, and are much the same as the classes you take during the year. We also have special summer camp for kids, which incorporates arts and crafts, water games, and other summer activities along with ballroom lessons. On top of that, we have ballroom boot camps - intensive dance training that improves both endurance and technique. Boot camp for adults takes place in the evenings, while kids' boot camp is during the day. And, at the end of the day, we still offer private dance lessons throughout the summer for those who prefer to stick to their own schedule and enjoy working with the teacher one on one.
So why not keep dancing this summer? Days are longer, we have more energy. The general atmosphere tends to be more relaxed. Keep practicing your ballroom, and come back stronger in the fall!
