In 2002 Emil and Ruta Ioukhnikov had a dream come true with the opening of their Dance Fever studio on the third floor of a building in Needham.
The studio was an idea long in the making but slowly developed. Lithuanian ballroom dancers Emil and Ruta moved to the United States after having coached many top couples in Israel.
Initially they worked at a local studio but soon longed for their true passion, teaching children.
Their goal was to inspire their passion and love for dancing into the youth in the area.
With this in mind they began teaching in the basement of their home in Newton.
The news of these wonderful teachers and their expertise with children spread.
Soon the basement home studio was alive with the tapping of heals, music and the sounds of the cha-cha-cha!
Children and parents from all over the Greater Boston area were rapidly at the door looking to learn.
With this Dance Fever was born on Wexford Street in Needham.
The growth continued and soon the third floor ballroom was not enough.
More rooms were added and as time passed Dance Fever occupied all three floors of the building.
With the recent explosion of dancing and its exposure on television and in the movies a new chapter for Dance Fever has begun.
In May 2007 Dance Fever opened a new larger location on Wells Avenue in Newton also occupied by the prestigious Russian School of Mathematics.
From a small basement room to a four ballroom studio with complete staff Dance Fever has developed and earned a respected position in the community. The future is bright and full of promise. Emil, Ruta and all the staff invite you to continue this wonderful story with us.
